Fir Needle Siberian essential oil

Botanical Name: Abies siberica Ledeb.

Family: Pinaceae.

Synonyms: Siberian fir.

Origin: Native to Russia and Mongolia. Introduced throughout Europe including Austria, Germany, Sweden, Poland.

Botanical Description: A tall, narrow, conical, evergreen tree up to 10-meters (30 ft) high. It has aromatic bright green needles.

Oil Extraction: Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the needles and twigs. The oil is colorless to pale yellow mobile liquid. Yield 2 to 3%.

Aroma Profile: Has a refreshing balsamic, pine-forest aroma in the top note. The middle note is resinous with a sweet-fruity undertone. The dry out is faintly sweet, woody and resinous.

Major Constituents: α-pinene, β-pinene, bornyl acetate (35%).

Adulterants: Not typically adulterated.

Regulatory Status: Food additive FDA 121.1163. 172.510.

Aromatherapy: Centering, refreshing, harmonizing, stimulating.

Blends well with: Cedarwood, cypress, sandalwood, juniper, pine, eucalyptus, sweet marjoram.

Safety Data: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.
