
Botanical Name: Melaleuca alternifolia (Maiden & Betche) Cheel
Family: Myrtaceae.
Synonyms: ti-tree; ti-trol; narrow leaved paperbark tea; melasol.
Origin: Native to Australia. Grows on the northern coast of NSW through to Southern Queensland.
Botanical Description: A medium sized shrub or small tree up to 8-meter (25 ft.) high with papery bark. Has narrow needle like leaves arranged in three's spirally along the stem, with heads of yellow or purplish flowers.
Oil Extraction: Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and branch tips. The oil is clear, colorless to pale yellow mobile liquid. Yield 1%.
Aroma Profile: The top note is strong, powerful camphoraceous-cineolic, oily aroma. The body note is diffusive, mace-like. The dry-out is less tenacious, dry mace-like notes.
Major Constituents: Terpinen-4-ol (>30%), 1,8-cineole (1 to 15%), α-pinene (6%), p-cymene, limonene, α-terpinene, α-terpineol, aromadendrene, γ-terpineol, sabinene, γ-terpineol, δ-cadinene.
Adulterants: Not typically adulterated.

Aromatherapy: Purifying, uplifting, cleansing.
Blends well with: Cedarwood, lavender, lavandin, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, clary sage, clove, nutmeg, pine, ylang ylang, geranium.
