Natural Cure for Anemia

Anemia is a condition where there is a deficiency of hemoglobin or a deficiency of red blood cells in the blood of an individual. It essentially causes problems when there is a deficiency of oxygen transported throughout the body. There are many different causes for anemia. Each cause may result in a different form of anemia. The most common causes for the problem include disease, insufficient iron intake, bone marrow problems, kidney failure and immune system problems where the immune system attacks the healthy red blood cells. Women who are pregnant may experience anemia as well. A person suffering from anemia will be perpetually tired and lack energy. It can cause dizziness and headaches as well. Often people with anemia suffer from shortness of breath. The explanation is that they tend to require more oxygen (that is, more breathing) to achieve the same amount of blood oxygenation as a healthy person would need. Anemia diagnosis is done by testing a patient’s blood in a process known as complete blood count.

The most obvious and natural treatment for anemia is to include more iron in the diet. This is recommended for people who have been diagnosed with anemia and who have realized that their diet does not contain enough iron in it. For this form of anemia, a diet change is enough to cure anemia altogether. For more complicated cases, such as bone marrow issues, a doctor’s treatment for anemia is necessary. Such treatments include the prescription of supplements and continuous monitoring of the condition in the subsequent days. Red blood cell production is also stimulated to ensure that the blood count returns to normal.

To treat anemia one may also make use of blood transfusion techniques. However, treating anemia through these techniques is risky because it is possible that the blood received by an individual could be rejected by his or her immune system. There are also other issues associated with receiving blood including that of receiving an infection from the blood if the donor has some illness or disease that is in his or her blood. A person suffering severe hypoxia associated with anemia may also be treated in an oxygen chamber where the oxygen concentration is more than in the normal atmosphere. This treatment only reduces the hypoxia temporarily, it does not cure anemia. This treatment is usually used as an emergency treatment that is conducted along with other more long term treatments that seek to resolve the problem over a longer term.
