Natural Cure for Chicken Pox
Chicken pox is a contagious infection that generally develops in children. It is caused by the varicella zoster virus and spreads from one person to another through direct skin contact and through droplets that are expelled from the nose and mouth. Chicken pox is characterized by red itchy blisters that develop all over the body. There could also be symptoms of flu. Since the condition is caused by a virus, the symptoms subside on their own after a while. This condition is very contagious and the affected person must stay at home until all the symptoms have gone away. Chicken pox usually occurs only once during an individual’s lifetime. However, in some cases the virus may remain dormant within the body and result in another skin condition called shingles later in life.
The rash first develops on the back, stomach and face. It then spreads to other areas of the body and also develops on the mouth, nose, ears, scalp and genital region. The red bumps then develop into fluid-filled blisters. Once the blisters rupture, the open sores harden and form dried scabs. Affected children may also experience stomach pain, sore throat and fever. Chicken pox is contagious right from the time before the rash begins to occur on the skin and continues to be so until the blisters have all dried up. The best treatment of chicken pox is to prevent it through vaccination. Chicken pox vaccine is recommended for all children between 12 to 15 years of age.
Home remedies for chicken pox can be used to obtain relief from the symptoms of chicken pox. An effective treatment for chicken pox is brown vinegar. Add half a cup of brown vinegar to a bath of warm water and allow the body to soak in it for some time. Another beneficial way to treat chicken pox and soothe itching is an oatmeal bath. Take two cups of cooked oatmeal in a piece of cloth and tie a string around the top of the cloth. Place the cloth in a bath of warm water. This water helps to relieve the discomfort caused by the rash. Sponging the skin with a solution of baking soda and water is also a helpful chicken pox treatment. Vitamin E oil may also be used to treat chicken pox as it helps to promote healing. Treating chicken pox with honey is also known to be beneficial as it helps to ease irritation and discomfort of the skin.
