Diabetes is a chronic condition, in which a person’s body cannot utilize the glucose, which leads to an unusually high level of sugar in the blood. Unfortunately, there is no particular way to cure diabetes and a person has to live with it, after making a number of lifestyle changes. The treatment for diabetes is aimed mainly at controlling the symptoms and keeping the levels of blood sugar in check. Treating diabetes requires the use of certain medication, a special diet and getting adequate exercise everyday. People are now looking for methods, which include a natural treatment for diabetes in addition to medication and dietary changes.

Given below are some natural and home remedies for diabetes that can help improve the effectiveness of medication used during diabetes treatment:

  • The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most effective natural cures for diabetes. Soak a handful of these seeds in a glass of water overnight. In the morning, mash the seeds, and sieve in a cloth. Drink this mixture everyday, for about two months, to see some positive results.
  • Drink grapefruit juice regularly, in order to control and treat diabetes to some extent.
  • Another effective natural remedy for diabetes is Cinnamon, as it contains a chemical that uses up blood sugar naturally.
  • Bitter-melon is often used in its natural or supplement form, in the treatment of diabetes, as it can help reduce the levels of glucose in the blood.
  • Garlic is highly beneficial in reducing blood sugar and is therefore a very effective home remedy.

Foods that should be avoided are foods that contain sugar, salt, starch, refined flour, alcohol, oil and caffeine. It is best to avoid large meal and instead eat about 5 to 6 small meals a day. It is also important to get adequate exercise; at least 30 to 45 minutes each day.

Although the above natural cure for diabetes can help alleviate the symptoms and can control the condition to some extent, they are not going to be effective in order to get rid of diabetes altogether.
