Natural Cure for Migraine
Migraine is a very common condition that affects both men and women but is more common in women. Migraine headaches are the most common characteristic of Migraine and these headaches can last for anywhere from a couple of hours to several days. Migraine headaches are often excruciatingly painful and seem to affect just one side of the head and can cause severe nausea and vomiting. People suffering from Migraine often experience unusual sensitivity to sound and light. While there are several methods of treatment of migraine headaches and various ways to treat migraine, these treatments offer temporary results only as they do not treat the root cause. As of now, the root cause of migraine is unknown although there are several theories.
There are several home remedies for migraine that can be used to address this problem. One of the most effective remedies for migraine headaches is cabbage leaves. A cabbage leaf compress can be made by crushing a few cabbage leaves and applying it to a cloth. This cloth should then be placed on the individual’s forehead for about 30 minutes. The compress would have dried a little by this time and it can be replaced with a fresh cabbage leaf compress. Providing the patient with small amounts of niacin rich foods has also been seen to be an effective natural treatment for migraine. Tomatoes, nuts, and green leafy vegetables are all good sources of this vitamin. Small serving of a salad with these foods should be given to the individual throughout the day to help relieve the pain. Liver and fish are also good sources of niacin but should be avoided as far as possible as they can increase and induce nausea. If the patient is suffering from severe nausea and cannot consume food, a 100 mg niacin tablet can be given instead. This natural remedy for migraine headaches is effective but takes a while to produce noticeable effects. Natural cures for migraine are especially recommended for children with migraine. Treating migraine in children also includes determining if there are any individual triggers. Some children experience migraine headaches when they have consumed large amounts of sweets and/or chocolates and so it is important to understand the trigger so that it can be avoided in future. It may not always be possible to cure migraine headaches, and if the pain is severe, it is advisable that the individual be kept in a quiet darkened room as this would help to induce sleep. It is very likely that once the person wakes up from their sleep, they will be fine.
