The saying goes "you are what you eat", but when you're pregnant your fetus is also what you eat. A mother's dietary intake determines the composition of her blood supply, which supplies oxygen and nutrients to the developing baby. Careful attention should be paid to diet, nutrition and supplements when pregnant or nursing. Sometimes this may require vitamin or mineral supplements, especially iron, calcium, folate and, for some women, vitamin D. Search Hints: Folic Acid, Calcium, Vitamin D, Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin B12.
