Certified Organic Bulk

Growing organic is essential to the preservation of our environment. Herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers from traditional farming seep into the ground polluting our groundwater and it also runs off the fields and into local water resources. Working with the environment to prevent this erosion, organic farmers preserve the fertility of the land by practicing sustainable farming. Your guarantee that a product is organic is its certification. To qualify for this designation, an organic farmer must maintain and document organic practices for three years.

The concept of organic goes beyond protecting the environment and extends to protecting the the people who work in the fields. Many of the chemicals used in farming have been shown to cause cancer as well as many other health concerns. These concerns are multiplied when a person is repeatedly exposed to the sprays, like the farmers. Many of the pesticides approved for use by the EPA were registered before extensive research linking these chemicals to cancer and other diseases had been established. Now the EPA considers that 60 percent of all herbicides, 90 percent of all fungicides, and 30 percent of all insecticides are carcinogenic. The bottom line is that pesticides are poisons designed to kill living organisms, including humans.

And last but not least in support of organic food and organic products, researchers from the University of Copenhagen recently reported that organically grown produce has higher levels of nutrients, like vitamins and secondary metabolites (which are thought to lower the risk of cancer) as compared to conventionally grown produce. Additionally, buying in bulk, certified organic bulk or not, means it will save you money and also reduce packaging waste.
